Approach

The SRI has developed a diverse research program that spans multiple complimentary discipline`s and provides research synergy. Our unique combination of Engineering and Medicine pushes us to break traditional boundaries and explore the complex biopsychosocial interactions that affect spine and other musculoskeletal disorder causal pathways.

The indirect costs associated with low back pain from missed work days and lost productivity is estimated to be $624.8 billion.

Our researchers are working closely with The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (The James) to apply engineering principles to optimize outcomes for patients with metastatic spine cancer.

The SRI Research Cycle

SRI is unique in that its comprehensive research portfolio expands across both occupational and clinical environments. Data collected in both of these environments informs the research conducted in laboratory settings and via computer models. Research findings and developed tools are then disseminated back into the field to help those in need.
