welcome

The Ohio State University offers both Master's and Doctoral programs in biomechanics through the Department of Industrial, Welding, and Systems Engineering as part of the Human Factors/Ergonomics program.

The program in Biomechanics gives students a chance to learn about human anthropometric, anatomical and physiological properties; biomechanical and electrophysiological experimentation and analysis techniques; biomechanical modeling of body strength, loading and tolerance; participation in reviewing and researching leading edge issues; and an opportunity to apply biomechanical knowledge in industrial environments.

Interdisciplinary studies involving the Department of Biomedical Engineering , the College of Medicine , and the various disciplines of engineering also compliment the biomechanics program.

Recent News

Students entering the Human Factors/Ergonomics graduate program come from a variety of academic backgrounds. Historically, students with backgrounds in engineering, psychology, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or physiology have done well in the program.

Financial assistance is available for those students wishing to specialize in the Human Factors/Ergonomics field. Assistance in the form of fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistanceships provide tuition waivers as well as a stipend. Such support is available to most students, and the teaching and research experience enriches their graduate education.
